WebQuest: Small Steps, Big Impact 🌍

Phase 1: Energy Heroes (10 Minutes)

 

Goal: Understand how to save energy at home.

 

  • Task: Visit the Energy Star Kids website. Take the Home Tour to find three ways to save energy in the kitchen or bedroom that are mentioned in your text, such as using lids on pots or managing house temperatureVIDEO

  • Question: What is one thing you can do with a dishwasher to save energy?

Phase 2: The Secret Life of Water (10 Minutes)

 

 

Goal: Learn about "grey water" and water conservation.

  • Task: Read: https://thewaterproject.org/water_conservation_tips  (ensure captions are on for A2 learners).

  •  Vocabulary Check: Look at your glossary. The text mentions rainwater and grey water.

  • Activity: Find one way to use water "left over" from daily tasks. Can you use it for a garden or laundry?

Phase 3: Trash to Treasure (10 Minutes)

 

 

Goal: Explore upcycling and composting.

  • Creative Challenge: Your document says an old tin can can become a flower pot.

  • Question: If you have fruit and vegetable peelings, what can you make for your garden?

Final Mission: The Sustainable City Plan

 

In your notebook, write three simple sentences about what you will do tomorrow to live more sustainably "on the grid". Use this structure:
